As the college aims to tackle food insecurity on campus, plans for a “Peace Center”, where the food pantry will be held, are underway. Describing plans to launch in the fall, Dr. Little expressed that the “Peace Center,” will serve as an oasis for students who may be struggling to have access to essential resources and support services. But it’s unclear when construction will begin on the Peace Center, according to a staff member who asked to remain anonymous for this story. The atrium renovation will presumably be completed first.
Prairie State College has stated a commitment to addressing food insecurity, but the timeline on when the future plans for the food pantry and other resources to help with the issue of food insecurity will be completed is still in the air.
